Twitter And Bell Canada

Monday, August 31, 2009

Here is another reason I have for disliking telephone companies. I signed up for an account with Twitter and then checked to see what the financial impact would be for me to use Twitter on my cell phone account with Bell Canada. It simply is NOT worth it. The main reason being that I would lose my unlimited email with Bell. This decision by Bell looks like a corporate decision by Bell against Twitter. I am still planning on using Twitter but right now only on the internet with computers. If I have to choose between unlimited email or twitter on my cell phone I have to choose email.

I suggest that if anyone is looking at using Twitter on their cell phone, check the cost of doing so carefully.

You’re right John! Thank You! I had take out pizza tonight for supper from Yum Yum’s in Oliver. It was excellent. I give it a 10 out of 10. It has been a long time since I had pizza that good.

BC’s Social Sales Tax

Friday, August 28, 2009

Another reason to call BC the *Bring Cash* province:

Yesterday I picked up a bottle of J&B Scotch at the local BC Liquor Store. When I got home I looked at the receipt and noticed that the the PST was exactly twice as much as the GST, for a total of 15 percent sales tax. I wondered why. Today I again visited the local store and asked, “Why?”. Nobody there knew until the head office was telephoned to find out. Liquor has a “Social Sales Tax” added to the price! The Social Sales Tax is on beer and wine also. Soon it will be time for everybody to make their own again.

I wonder what other strange taxes there are in the Bring Cash Province that most people don’t know about.

My Passport

The photograph on my Canada Passport looks more like a silhouette than a good recognizable photo of me! Does that mean that I could easily end up in a foreign prison and be abandoned by Canada?

What can I say? HERE is Psalm 17.

A Visit To Yukon

Thursday, August 20, 2009

This week I am in Whitehorse Yukon, initially enroute to Inuvik to place a headstone on Aggie’s grave, and for other things that need doing in Whitehorse. However it has been, is, and will be raining on the Dempster highway for about a week. So will I drive the Dempster again? No! I had the stone shipped by there by truck and friends in Inuvik will look after its installation for me. The stone was made in Whitehorse by a company called Sidrock and the stone is from near Burwash Landing, Yukon.

Aggie's Grave Marker

The tourism business is still quite active in the north and the Walmart parking lot in Whitehorse is still the busiest RV Campground around. I did have difficulty finding a hotel room in Whitehorse for some unknown reason that nobody seemed to know.

The best RV Campground around here, in my opinion, is the Pioneer RV Campground just south of Whitehorse. It reports a decline in business of about 30 percent from last year. To me it looks like Walmart has gained the 30 percent that Pioneer lost.

Another step in the direction of reaching 50 Psalms. You can see it HERE.

Michelle

Saturday, August 8, 2009

Yesterday Michelle and I had planned to make a couple videos in Penticton to add to the one already on YouTube. After discussions about this and considering that Michelle has ramped up her voice lessons and is concentrating on that, we spent the afternoon enjoying Pentiction, and discussing Michelle’s singing plans for the future. The next three months should result in a few short new videos and a major song in November.

It would have been a shame not to enjoy the beautiful weather and the Pentiction Peach Festival, so we spent the afternoon enjoying that and celebrating Michelle’s birthday one day early.

I still don’t have space to paint, but that certainly does not mean that I am not busy. There is always something interesting to do. Designing and maintaining web sites still takes much of my time, and among other things I am often busy writing.

You can hear Michelle singing on my video channel at http://youtube.com/ulasovetz.

Below are 3 photos of Michelle taken yesterday in Penticton.
