I’m Back
The time of this blog entry is an eye opening time for me . . . I didn’t realize so much time had past since my last entry. It isn’t that my life is too dull by any means. It’s more because I have been busier than usual without realizing that some of my “to-do’s” have been pushed into the background by other more immediate tasks. The new Oliver Art Gallery has taken up much of my time as did a couple of other new projects that I have taken on. At this point I really feel that my dance card is full. Perhaps too full.
And then the last couple of days I attended my friend’s wedding in Penticton. Craig Kaulbach and new bride Heather were married on July 21st. Their extremely well organized wedding at St. Ann’s Church in Penticton was followed by a reception at Penticton’s Lakeside Resort, until some time after midnight . . . and then a fantastic wedding breakfast the next morning in the “Merlot” room! Congratulations Heather and Craig. May you have a long and happy life together.
The Oliver Art Gallery now has 14 artists from the Okanagan Valley. To complete our stable of artists , we are looking for another 3 artists to join us.

Ulasovetz - Canadian Visual Artist
Roger Serge Ulasovetz, born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, started painting with oils at 13 years of age. Self taught, mainly through continuing exposure to art information in the form of texts, art workshops, networking with peers, and by satisfying a never ending thirst for artistic knowledge, he always devoted as much time as possible to his art, while at the same time following a career in industrial electronics and information technology. Roger first moved to Canada’s far north in 1961. He and his Gwich’in wife Aggie, whom he met in Inuvik, have spent many years working in the north, painting and enjoying its solitude and beauty. Roger’s painting career started taking over full time when in 1986 he successfully painted for two years in Edmonton Alberta. In 1990/91 he frequently painted in Washington State.
Before moving to the Yukon, Roger worked for the Government of the Northwest Territories as Arts and Crafts Programs Manager. In 2004 Roger and his wife moved to Tagish Yukon where he painted full time at his home studio/gallery and on location mainly in the Yukon.
Aggie passed away in December of 2005. Roger’s goal was to stay in the Yukon and to continue to grow as an artist, concentrating on oils, but also using watercolors, acrylics, soft pastels, graphite and charcoal. He was truly a “Painter of Yukon Light”.
He soon decided that not only was he now living a solitary life in Yukon but a lonely life as well, so he packed up and crossed Canada 7 times looking for a new home. While planning on spending a winter in Arizona he felt at home in Oliver BC, where he now resides and paints in his Oliver home/studio. Although still living a solitary life style, he is not lonely, and is happy as a “Canadian Visual Artist”.
