For some reason that I am not pursuing, Adobe ver. 9.2 still doesn’t work properly with Google Chrome. I expect Adobe will be coming out with another update to fix this . . . soon?
Adobe Reader 9.2 with Google Chrome
Friday, October 16, 2009 by UlasovetzAdobe 9.2 Install Problem With Google Chrome
Friday, October 16, 2009 by UlasovetzI updated Adobe Reader to version 9.2. from Google Chrome using Vista OS and it wouldn’t work with Google Chrome. I tried reinstalling it and it wouldn’t install without errors. I reinstalled it again from FireFox and it installed okay and also ran okay with Google Chrome. Like I don’t have better things to do!
Vista Update Failure; Error Code 57E
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 by UlasovetzInstalled Vista updates today and received an error code 57E. The previous problem described in previous blog posts returned. I again ran `Windows Install Cleanup` and removed install files for Window Office XP Pro again. Problem solved again. I am hoping Windows 7 will solve this problem for good.
Reinstallation of Office XP Pro on Vista
Monday, October 12, 2009 by UlasovetzThought I would try to reinstall Microsoft Office XP Professional on my Vista Machine. The install appeared to go fine; so far it appears to be working okay.
Publisher 2002 vs Vista
Monday, October 12, 2009 by UlasovetzSame problem, different installation files. Windows Installer started trying to install Microsoft Publisher before I could run any program. Same solution: Ran Windows Install Cleanup; problem solved but Publisher disappeared; reinstalled Publisher 2002. All okay. Vista really doesn’t like microsoft programs designed to run on Windows XP!
A Vista Problem Work Around
Sunday, October 11, 2009 by UlasovetzMy Vista OS computer had a problem yesterday that apparently isn’t that uncommon. I was in a situation where before any program could run, the “Windows Installer” program would attempt to install the already installed “Microsoft Office XP” programs. Since I had Microsoft Office XP” running in XP mode and because other Vista compatibility problems had shown up before, and because I was refusing to accept Microsoft’s advice to upgrade to a new version of Windows Office to fix those problems, I uninstalled Microsoft Office XP; after all, I do use “OpenOffice” without any problems, and if need be I could do without Microsoft’s Office software.
That to my surprise did not solve the problem. “Windows Installer” was still trying to install “Microsoft Office XP”. After much research, I downloaded and ran “msicuu2.exe” which loaded a program called “Windows Installation Cleanup” into my machine. I then ran that program and chose to delete any Microsoft Office XP installation software that may be present.
It worked! The Office XP installation software still on the computer came to life after a Vista update, or maybe another unknown update, and had caused the problem. For now I will continue to use “Open Office” until, maybe later, I again reinstall Microsoft Office XP.
I hope this helps others that might have the same problem. I do however caution anybody to be very careful as to which installation software they remove . . . the list is quite long and some installation software is necessary for proper operation of various programs.
Festival of the Grape
Thursday, October 8, 2009 by UlasovetzLast Sunday I attended the annual Festival of the Grape in Oliver. While I thought the price of a ticket was kind of high at $22, I did receive a wine glass and three tickets for wine tastings. More tickets were available at $1 each. The weather was perfect and I didn’t have to drive so I did taste 4 fine local wines. I found the Cabernet from Nk’Mip Winery to be superb. And some of the Trade Vendor’s booths provided excellent products. A few pictures taken at the venue can be viewed HERE.
Panorama View At New Residence
Sunday, September 27, 2009 by UlasovetzI am still getting settled in at my new condo residence in Oliver. Enough room for a new painting studio is really appreciated! Soon I will be painting again! Currently I am still acquiring furniture but what is missed the most right now is a bed. Along with the bed, already ordered from Sears, is a dining room table and chairs and a new 40″ TV. You can view a panorama video from my patio/balcony below (no sound).

Twitter And Bell Canada
Monday, August 31, 2009 by UlasovetzHere is another reason I have for disliking telephone companies. I signed up for an account with Twitter and then checked to see what the financial impact would be for me to use Twitter on my cell phone account with Bell Canada. It simply is NOT worth it. The main reason being that I would lose my unlimited email with Bell. This decision by Bell looks like a corporate decision by Bell against Twitter. I am still planning on using Twitter but right now only on the internet with computers. If I have to choose between unlimited email or twitter on my cell phone I have to choose email.
I suggest that if anyone is looking at using Twitter on their cell phone, check the cost of doing so carefully.
